SUNDAY, WEDNESDAY SERVICES CONTINUE IN MARCH

During Lent, Sundays are days full of opportunities for worship and growing in faith. Sunday School starts the day at 10:00 a.m. where we can study God's Word and share in fellowship. Morning worship service follows at 11:00 a.m. with the theme "Christ Our Hope". Children's sermon time will feature "Lord, I'm Listening" Lenten Mobiles. On Sunday Evenings through March 28, Lenten Services will be held at 7 p.m. with the theme "Foundations for Life - Luther's Catechisms."  On Wednesdays through March 24, take a mid-week pause for worship with Communion Services from 12:15 p.m. to 12:35 p.m.

On Sunday evenings, Grace is participating in a pulpit exchange with other area churches. Remaining schedule is as follows:

March 7           Sacrament of Baptism              Rev. Eric Fink
March 14         The Lord’s Prayer                     Rev. Randy Derrick, Macedonia
March 21         The Ten Commandments          Rev. David Tholstrup, St. Peter’s
March 28         Confession & Absolution           Rev. Eric Fink

Fellowship meals will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sundays, March 14 and March 28. WELCA Circles are coordinating the meal on March 14. Stay tuned for details on what everyone can bring. The annual Youth Spaghetti Supper and fundraiser will be held on Palm Sunday, March 28.

Easter lilies may be given in memory or honor of loved ones for $11 each. Sign up by Sunday, March 14 on the narthex board or call the church office.

YOUTH SPONSOR SPAGHETTI FUNDRAISER MARCH 28

Youth will hold their annual Sponsor Spaghetti Fundraiser on Sunday evening, March 28 at 6:00 p.m. prior to the Palm Sunday evening service. Donations will be accepted with our youth using this event as a major source of funds for their spring and summer events. Be sure to come out and support our youth on Palm Sunday night.

YOU CAN HELP HAITI EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS

Join the effort to reach out in love to victims of the Haiti Earthquake. Grace council has designated half of our Lenten offerings for this ongoing effort through Lutheran Disaster Response. You may also make donations using the Disaster Response envelopes in the pews and narthex. Your gifts to ELCA International Disaster Response, designated for Haiti Earthquake Relief, will be used entirely—100 percent— for immediate relief and ongoing recovery in Haiti. Checks can be made out to Grace Lutheran Church. Mark your envelope "Haiti."

RELAY FOR LIFE TEAM ON TRACK FOR 2010  RELAY

Grace's Relay for Life Team is already making plans and raising funds toward Newberry County's Relay on Friday, April 30 at Newberry High School. Next meeting is at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, March 7. To become a member of Grace's team, you complete a registration form, pay a $10 registration fee, and commit to raising $100 on your own. Team members are already selling signs in memory or in honor of loved ones for $30 and business signs for $100. These will line the track at Newberry High on relay night. All sign orders are due by March 7. T-shirt orders are alsso due March 7. During March, the team will be taking orders for luminaries to honor a loved one for a $10 donation. Luminary orders are due by April 11. The annual Yard Sale will be held Saturday, April 17. Start setting aside items to donate now. Donated items may be left in the old social hall beginning on Sunday, April 11.

Grace Lutheran Men received an Outstanding Unit Award at the SC Lutheran Men in Mission Convention in Greenville in February.

"SERVANTS OF GOD" PATIO MOVING AHEAD

Our new "Servants of God" patio near the narthex entry doors is taking shape. The patio bricks have been laid out by volunteers, and a beautiful bench, wall cross, and landscaping have been added. Johnny Merck continues to work on engraving the named bricks for the patio. Dedication will be held in the coming months as the engraved bricks are finished. Donations are still being accepted for bricks with the goal of having the names of all Grace members (past and present), friends, and associates on these bricks in order to represent the "great cloud of witnesses" who have served the Kingdom here in this place throughout the decades. Single named bricks may be ordered for a minimum donation of $25 each. Minimum donation per brick for five or more bricks ordered at the same time is $20 each. In addition to a brick for your current family, you may also wish to honor your ancestors or adopt a brick for one of Grace's charter families, or a past Sunday School teacher or pastor. The donor's name will not be included on the brick, but will be recorded in a special donor's book for the patio. Order forms are available in the church narthex or call the church office.
