WORSHIP OUR LORD

Coming together to worship our Lord is essential to our life as Christians. We gather to praise our Creator and be fed by His Holy Word, giving glory to our Savior, Jesus Christ. Grace Lutheran Church is open for worship services every Sunday during the year. Our congregation also offers many special worship services throughout the year, including Easter, Christmas, Pentecost, and Reformation. Evening worship services are held during the season of Lent, including Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday. Mid-week Communion services are scheduled at noon on Wednesdays during the Advent and Lenten seasons. Visitors are always welcome - and encouraged - to worship with us. For more information about our worship services or any of the opportunities listed below, please contact the church office at (803) 364-3331.

OUR WORSHIP SCHEDULE

Our Sunday Worship time is 11 a.m. from September 13, 2009 through May 30, 2010. Sunday School for all ages is offered at 10 a.m. Nursery care is available during morning worship and Sunday School.

Our summer Sunday service times are 8:45 a.m. and 11 a.m. from June 6, 2010, to August 8, 2010.  The 8:45 a.m. service is a “Come-As-You-Are” service with Holy Communion. The 11 a.m. worship service is traditional. Sunday School for all ages is offered at 10 a.m. Nursery care is available during the 11 a.m. morning worship and Sunday School.

HOLY COMMUNION

The Lord's Supper was instituted by Jesus Christ on the night of His betrayal. As Lutheran Christians, we believe that Christ is truly present in, with, and under the elements.  Holy Communion is offered for all baptized Christians of any denomination. Children not yet receiving First Communion instruction are invited to the altar rail for a blessing. Click here for more on First Communion instruction.

BAPTISM

In the waters of Baptism, we are claimed and called to be Children of God, receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, and made members of the body of Christ, the church. We are assured of the forgiveness of sins and marked with the Cross of Christ forever. Persons of any age may be baptized. Infants and others unable to take the vows for themselves are presented by parents and/or sponsors. As Lutherans, we confess our belief in one Baptism, and therefore, accept the Baptism of other Christian denominations.  Anyone interested in Baptism for themselves or their children should contact Pastor Eric at (803) 364-3331. Grace's baptismal font is pictured at left. The Pastor pours water into the basin and dips his fingers into the water  and makes the mark of the cross on the forehead of the person being baptized.

WEDDINGS

Couples interested in a service of Christian marriage should contact Pastor Eric at (803) 364-3331.

CHILDREN’S SERMONS

Children are invited to gather on the front steps in the sanctuary each Sunday to listen to a Children's sermon. After the sermon, children ages two through first grade may attend Children’s Church in the fellowship hall. Click on the link for more about Children's Church.

ASSISTING MINISTERS

Members of the congregation serve as assisting ministers and share the first two lessons with the congregation, proclaiming God’s Word to God’s people as they gather in worship. The lay Assisting Minister also offers petitions and helps lead the congregation in prayers and other parts of the liturgy. For services which include the celebration of Holy Communion, the lay Assisting Minister administers the wine to the communicants.

USHERS

Welcoming family and friends to worship services, handing out the worship service bulletins and children’s bulletins, and helping folks to their seat are only a few of the duties of an usher.
