“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises!” Psalm 98: 4
Vocal and instrumental music enhances our worship and communicates the Good News. Our Adult, Children’s and Praise choirs, organists and pianists, and Praise band glorify God through the language of music.
ADULT CHOIR
Ability to read music not required – only a love of singing praise to God. The Adult Choir practices at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday nights. A highlight of the Adult Choir’s year is Christmas in August, when the group meets for the unveiling of the annual Christmas cantata and to share a time of fellowship. The annual cantata is presented during a Choral Worship Service on the Sunday morning before Christmas. Choirmaster and organist is Eddie Rivers.
GRACE PRAISE BAND AND CHOIR
The Grace Praise Band and Choir aims to provide a musical praise service each month and from time to time offers music for Sunday worship services . The group plays and sings a mix of contemporary music and old favorites. If you play guitar, drums, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, brass, flute, keyboard or another instrument or if you just love to sing God's praises, this group is for you. Additional instruments and voices are always welcome! Contact Barry Hartman (364-1216 or BwmHart@netscape.com) for more details.
CHILDREN'S AND YOUTH MUSIC PROGRAM
CHILDREN'S AND YOUTH CHOIRS
Our Children's and Youth Choirs meet during Sunday School on Faith & Music Sundays. On the 2nd Sunday of each month, Candy Bouknight and Carla Brown will meet for singing with toddlers, preschoolers, and youth in grades 1-3 (our Thankful Tots, Kingdom Kids, and Super Servants). Candy Bouknight will meet with the Young Disciples (grades 4-5) and with other middle and senior youth who like to sing on the 3rd Sunday of each month. Each musical experience will be connected with a lesson and devotion for the day.
TONE CHIME CHOIR
Tone Chime Choir is for children and youth from 6th grade and up and will meet during the Sunday School hour on the 3rd Sunday of each month as part of Faith & Music Sundays. This group often presents the music they learn as the "Call to Worship" on Sunday mornings. Leadership for this group is provided by Carla Brown. Each musical experience will be connected with a lesson and devotion for the day.
INSTRUMENTALISTS
On the third Sunday of each month, Christopher Shealy will meet with the Mighty Christians and Senior Youth to play instruments and tone chimes as part of the Faith & Music Sundays during the Sunday School hour. Each musical experience will be connected with a lesson and devotion for the day.
VISUAL ART
Art can express The Word, bring glory to God, and celebrate the gifts of creativity. Visual art is regularly displayed in the sanctuary or other appropriate places in the church. Artists in the congregation also share their talents by creating props and backgrounds for Vacation Bible School and other ministries.
At left is a Prayerful Paper -Cutting by the Mature Adult Ministries of Advent Candles with the words "O Come," "O Come," "Emmanuel," and "God With Us." These candles are placed on the wall behind the altar during the Advent and Christmas seasons.
The 2004 Vacation Bible School Class for adults created this beautiful colored-paper mosaic depicting the Creation story under the leadership of Mrs. Heather Harris. This colorful mosaic now hangs in the church sanctuary.
