In spite of 100 degree heat, members of our congregation enjoyed an "ole-timey" picnic and field day at Camp Kinard in Leesville on Sunday, June 28. Grilled hot dogs, side dishes and desserts rounded out the menu with hand-churned ice cream and watermelon later in the afternoon. Games included a sack race, watermelon seed spitting contest, tug of war, and water balloon toss. Thanks to Melodie Waters for sharing these photos.
Neither 100 degree heat nor lack of a comfy sofa could prevent the traditional after-Sunday-lunch nap.
Howdy ya'll! We're having a great time.
Little ones enjoy the balloons - still in the package- before they are filled with water for the water balloon toss.
A group waits in the wagon for Farmer Bob to take them on a hayride tour of Camp Kinard.
Hand-churning ice cream was hard work - and a cold seat for one.
The watermelon was delicious - and the seeds were saved with great care for the watermelon seed spitting contest.
